What is a Vaginoplasty?
Vaginoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that tightens the vaginal tissue. After having a baby, many women complain of vaginal laxity due to overstretching of the vaginal tissue and separation of the vaginal muscle. In some women, the laxity is so severe that tampons fall out.
A vaginoplasty tightens the loosened vaginal tissue to restore health and function and appearance.

What happens during a vaginoplasty?
Dr. Miller-Thrasher develops personalized surgical plans specific to your needs and reviews the details of your vaginoplasty during your consultation. She may perform your vaginoplasty using local or general anesthesia.
During the procedure, Dr. Miller-Thrasher restores the separated vaginal muscles and removes any excess mucosal tissue to tighten your vagina. For aesthetic purposes, she may also remove any excess external skin, such as excess labia minora, which are the inner labia lips.
Additionally, the aged look of deflated labia can be restored through a 20-minute fat transfer procedure.
How long is recovery from a vaginoplasty?
Recovery from your vaginoplasty depends on the extent of your procedure and your overall health. Dr. Miller-Thrasher reviews the details of your recovery plan at your consultation so you know what to expect.
After a surgical vaginoplasty, you may need to take it easy for 2-4 weeks following your vaginoplasty, although you can do activities of daily living like going to work and driving. Dr. Miller-Thrasher may also recommend you refrain from vaginal intercourse and using tampons for up to eight weeks following the procedure.
If downtime represents a barrier to the procedure, Dr. Miller-Thrasher can perform minimally-invasive vaginoplasty using radiofrequency with minimal to no downtime
