What is Tummy Tuck?
A tummy tuck, also called an abdominoplasty, is a cosmetic procedure aimed at improving the shape and contour of your midsection.
Dr. Miller-Thrasher was competitively selected to receive an additional year of post-residency training in a cosmetic surgical fellowship program through the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.
During her fellowship, she was trained by cosmetic and plastic surgeons. This specialized training, along with her 25 years of gynecological surgery, makes her uniquely qualified to perform the quintessential mommy makeover procedure that she affectionately calls the “Innovative SnapBack Procedure.”
Who benefits from a tummy tuck?
Like other cosmetic procedures, the decision to have a tummy tuck is personal. Dr. Miller-Thrasher is an experienced surgeon who conducts comprehensive evaluations to understand your concerns and goals.
You may benefit from a tummy tuck if you’re struggling to get rid of belly flab or excess skin after having a baby or extreme weight loss. You may also benefit from a tummy tuck if you’ve always struggled with a protruding belly despite always being in good shape.
What are the types of tummy tucks?
Innovative Women's HealthCare Solutions develops a personalized tummy tuck surgical plan based on your body type and aesthetic goals.
Mini-tummy tuck
A mini-tummy tuck primarily addresses the belly pooch under your belly button. During a mini-tummy tuck, Dr. Miller-Thrasher makes an incision near your pubic mound to remove fat and excess skin.
Classic tummy tuck
The classic tummy tuck addresses the excess bulges above and below your belly button. It is generally accompanied by liposuction. Though similar to the mini-tummy tuck, Dr. Miller-Thrasher needs to make a slightly larger incision to get the desired results.
She may also make a second incision around your belly button to remove excess skin in your upper abdominal area and tighten your abdominal muscles to give you the “snatched” waist.
SnapBack Procedure
The Innovative SnapBack Procedure is Dr. Miller-Thrasher’s signature mommy makeover procedure that includes both a tummy tuck and liposuction.
How long does it take to recover from a tummy tuck?
The tummy tuck is a major surgical procedure, and Dr. Miller-Thrasher may recommend you modify your activities for 2-4 weeks.
Though you may notice an improvement in your shape soon after surgery, it may take six months or more until all the swelling subsides and you see the final results.
Despite the lengthy recovery, your tummy tuck results are permanent as long as you maintain a healthy weight and continue to engage in regular physical activity.
